Community Engagement

In keeping with our vision to connect the mission force to the mission field, the Jacksonville Baptist Association works with churches to engage our community through a host of services and training opportunities. If you would like to learn more about any of these services, which are provided to member churches, please reach out to us ( or check our calendar for upcoming events.

  • School Partnerships

School Partnerships provide a wonderful gateway to community engagement for the local church. The JBA regularly provides training and ideas for churches that are looking to serve the schools in their community. Regardless of the size of your church, there a host of options that will allow you to be a blessing to the students, teachers, and administrative staff of a local school. Many of our churches also participate in Reach which is an annual school partnership emphasis that encourages churches to demonstrate God’s love by serving their school partners just before the beginning of the school year each fall.
  • Gospel Conversations Training

Gospel Conversations Training focuses on using a biblical, simple, and reproducible process to train church members to share the gospel and make disciples who reproduce.During Gospel Conversations Training, participants learn how to share their story (personal testimony) and God’s story (the gospel) using the 3-Circles evangelism tool. Once participants have demonstrated competency sharing the gospel, they are trained in simple discipleship process (Four Fields/5G/411). For questions, or to schedule Gospel Conversations Training in your church, contact the JBA.
  • Community Mapping

    Learning to Exegete Your Community

Our team calls this process “Search & Rescue.” Through the community mapping training, you, your leadership team, and church will gain valuable cultural clarity using a process that is similar to that which is used by law enforcement to search for missing persons. The process leads to a significant increase in engagement of those who are lost in your community.

  • Short-term Mission Team Training

This process combines biblical principles and experiential education (teambuilding) initiatives to help teams focus on the mission and prepare them for an impactful short-term mission trip. This process includes field training (active games and debrief sessions) so that biblical principles are accentuated and reinforced. Great for adults and youth groups.
  • Disaster Relief & Send Relief Volunteers

We provide information and encouragement to potential disaster relief trainees, assistance to churches who desire to respond to disasters through the North American Mission Board’s Disaster Relief ministries, and encourage churches to recruit Send Relief Volunteers to work alongside Disaster Relief personnel.
  • Collaborative Church Hubs

Jacksonville is the largest city by area in the contiguous United States. When one includes the surrounding metro area, some of our member churches can be quite a distance from one another. To that end, we have been working to develop collaborative church hubs, in which churches that share geographic proximity partner together for local collaborative projects, encouragement, and the sharing of resources. To participate in a collaborative hub or help start one in your community, reach out to our missional strategist for community engagement at
